All style battle format – Prelims: 1min spotlight of 3 to 4 duets at a time / Best 16 qualified – 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 finals: 2 rounds of 45 seconds per team + all skate at the end – Final: 3 rounds of 45 seconds per team + all skate at the end – Dancers will be challenged to dance to the unpredictable and varied styles and tempos selected by the DJs within the Jazz continuum (Swing, Rhythm & Blues, Brass Band, Hip Hop, Afro, House…) N.B: while we don’t want to restrict the ration between improvisation vs set sequences, be sure to have a good balance and be ready to embrace the battle spirit (aka improvise and react on the moment). Routines should be used occasionally. Judges will make their decisions with this in mind. |

* Main judges and teachers can compete but can’t win NYC flight vouchers. The prize will then be transferred to the next non-judge/teacher participant in ranking.
